First visit last Saturday and so far I was impressed. We arrived after 9pm and there was no queue of hipster peoples.... so straight down the stairs we dashed as the bouncy was busy talking to a cop i think the convenient store a few doors down may have just been robbed! Yikes Place was half full (everyone else was probably still at the Mardi Gras parade) and the lovely couches were empty so we made a beeline for the bar. Was not in the mood for cocktails so i ordered a glass of Shiraz from a friendly blonde waitress. Thank goodness it was palatable as i would of been disappointed for getting a glass liquid that resembled the taste of vinegar for $10! Atmosphere was good, Ambiance was good. Ever so often they would make a cocktail that had flames so that was always entertaining and i made a promise that i would indeed attempt this flaming cocktail on my next visit. We did not get to try the food but the menu looked tasty! Address details can be found here in my Drink in Sydney page: weebly

Heard about this place a lot on Instagram so as usual it was a must visit but of course with life commitments you tend to call in on it months are your initial thought of visiting! We got there 10 minutes to 8am on Saturday (because that's when they open) so of course the place was empty except for the staff which was great coz we got to choose a prime position to sit! I did not realise that the Kitchen was part of the Koskela warehouse where the owners Russel Koskela and Sasha Titchkosky produce "Australian furniture that is beautiful, functional and durable" (taken from their website) .... will you look at that you learn something new everyday! We ordered the Sourdough pancakes with Lemon Curd $14, Big Breakfast $20 and Eggs benedict/royale $13. Everything was back to basics, you order at the counter then take a number and a seat and they bring it out to you. In addition, to the usual breakfast menu they also have pastries/cakes on offer if you are not quite hungry. The cutlery was in an old tomato tin tub which added the rustic look, food was served in tin plates like the kind you take camping. Food was sensational! My eggs benedict came on a bun and all the sauce and the egg oozed out goodness! I scraped the plate...literally! Pancakes were divine. After we had finished breakfast we waiting around till 9am as that was the time Koskela opened so we could peruse the designs. Families and groups are welcome here, Great way to start the weekend! Address details can be found here: weebly Went to visit my sister and family in Auckland over the weekend and this is one of the places i visited. The Wintergardens has beautiful architecture and the flowers and plants are alluring to look at! Day was windy and overcast but inside it was magical! Taken from the NZ Gardens Trust Website: " The Winter Garden at the Auckland Domain is a treasure of great historic interest. It was designed in the early 1900s in the style of the famous English partnership of Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jeckyll and opened in 1913". The Tropical area is hot as you would expect. In addition, this place is very popular with wedding photographers as you tend to see them every time you visit. Once you have finished viewing the gardens you can make your way to the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Great way to entertain tourists and the kids on the weekend. Address details can be found here: weebly I believe this place has been open just over a month. It is one of those novelty restaurants and we wanted to try the food ourselves. We arrived about 6pm so not many people seated yet. Staff are friendly and attentive. So far so good! Lighting is pretty bright here but then again it was a very gloomy day out. I ordered the banana milkshake and the Jack Daniel ribs. Milkshake was sweet and tasty reminded me of when I was a kid at restaurants. Ribs were a big serving with chips and salad and very saucy just how I like it! And I don't eat a lot of ribs so that's saying something. My sister enjoyed her meal too which was the Jackies Eye fillet I think with mash and veggies. It's my first visit and the place is still new so we shall see how far it goes! I gave it 2 1/2 to 3 stars because I did enjoy my ribs but for 2 meals and a kids meal came to $93! Pretty exy I think! Heard about this place on Instagram but haven't had a chance to visit until now! Hooray! First we went to the wrong end of Dixon St, stupid iPhone map! Finally reached it after refreshing the maps app. Place feels like your in a lab with the staff in lab coats and all the smoke from the liquid nitrogen coming out of the food processors. Line wasn't too long, we ordered the Ferraro Revival and Strawberry, Rosewater Meringue Pie. $8 each Ah YUM! I loved the rosewater flavored meringue on top my refreshing strawberry ice cream. The Ferraro revival comes with a chocolate syringe and a wafer! Brilliant! Love this place! Address is: 43/1 Dixon St, Sydney When you in the town hall area around 6 ish and feel a bit peckish for dinner. Do not hesitate to walk to Chefs Gallery on Bathurst St just down from the KFC. Generally if you have the foresight you can book ahead online but alas you can always leave you name with the hostess on the door and wait probably around 5-10 min sometimes its longer and sometimes your're in luck! As soon as we arrived there were at least 12 people waiting outside so we asked for a table for 2 and the hostess asked if we didnt mind bench seats....um of course not! Zing! Instant table and we faced the kitchen so we could see the guy making fresh noodles! Awesome We ordered the Roti Peking Duck, BBQ Fried Noodles and chilli chicken (which we secretly thing should be called KUNG POW Chicken - Its not hot or spicy its just an awesome name!) Everything as usual was mouth-watering! Teamed up with some iced lemon tea! Delish! Waiters are friendly and efficient, Food is quite fast too! For the adults there are 5 bars to choose form including the Rekordelig Gazebo. In addition they have an a huge selection of shows at the The Spiegeltent, Sydney Town Hall, Riverside Theaters in Parramatta. Best to check their website for further info. We got there around 6pm and it was not busy yet, However, when we left at 8pm there was a line for the entrance as they were at capacity. So plan ahead people! Overall a great experience for the family, with friends or just with your partner :) Took a friend for the first time to High Tea and she loved it! I figured the best place to start would be to trial The Tea Room at the Queen Victoria Building in the city. We were booked in for 11am for a 1.5 hour seating, although i highly doubt we would use that whole time! I cant remember the names of most of the items but made sure to take a lot of pictures so you can feast your eyes on the deliciousness that is High Tea :) . The wait staff was impeccable and pleasant. We were done and dusted within the hour and desperately needed to walk off the many treats we just consumed. Overall I love High Tea and always have a wonderful time sipping tea and eating the mini treats, I mean if you didn't then this is something that you must get yourself into! With the year coming to an end i think you all deserve to spoil yourself ;). Address and contact details can be found here: weebly Last day of November and it was the day we finally got to meet Kevin Bacon, Bradley and all the other animals that are residents at the The Grounds. Weather was overcast and sprinkling to start but that did not deter us. Arrived about 8.40 am and parking was scarce but eventually found a spot. Since having a foot injury i rarely like to walk far even though i should be grateful! Anywho the place was packed when we got there, so we had to get a buzzer and wait 30 minutes, which was ample time for my niece to visit Kevin bacon and his friends. It's quite a large area with different carts placed all over the grounds. There's the lemonade stand, the fresh fruit cart, pastry cart and a kids play area. By the time out buzzer beeped we were both starving! To start i got the Super green juice which no amount of convincing would make my niece try it! We got the breakfast platter to share which consisted of 2 poached eggs, 2 x toast, smoked ham, diced tomatoes, feta with pesto and avocado. Clean eating to the max! Finished off with hot chocolate and a cappuccino. Overall it was well worth the wait, sadly i did not get to visit Salt meets Cheese. Alas gives me an excuse to visit again soon! Here's to breaking Sydney's cafes, restaurants and places to interest one weekend at a time! Address can be found here: weebly
This is one of those places that you've been meaning to visit but just haven't got the time or you keep forgetting about it.
So since it was our anniversary dinner I figured why not spoil ourselves with some fine french cuisine. It only dawned upon me on the day of our reservation whilst i was trying to find it on google maps, that I have walked past this place so many times and didn't realise it was under my nose the whole time! Ananas is located above Lowenbrau keller and used to be "Uber bar", Now its more a classy establishment :P with bar and restaurant. Beautiful rustic feel inside and loving the pineapple lamps they have throughout the restaurant! For entree, we had the prawn cocktail, then for mains we both had the Savanah grass fed 300g Sirloin, The Mr had his with Bearnaise sauce and I had mine with the cafe de Paris butter sauce both came with pommes frites. For drinks The Mr had a dirty martini with gin which he proclaimed was the best he ever had! I had the Absolutely Ananas (above picture). For dessert, I had the Ananas 4 ways with coconut mousse and he had the Snickers revolution, Both insanely heavenly! Waiters were very hospitable and french :). Overall we both agreed it was the best anniversary dinner thus far! Address details can be found here: weebly |
